Dynamic icebergs

Before they go out to open sea, icebergs from the Jakobshavn Icefjord have to cross a moraine, sedimentation that has built up over millennia to form a wall on the sea floor. This often means big icebergs need to break and flip to get over this wall and out to sea. The expedition team got a first hand look at these enormous icebergs during an evening Zodiac excursion at the mouth of the fjord.
